Wimberley Family

6.25.2012

Meet the sweet Wimberley family! They got a gift card for Christmas two years ago, and we have been trying to schedule this session for a since then. It's so hard to coordinate three families all while having a baby in the process, so we finally got an opportunity where my schedule worked for them.
It was a little warm this day, and you see they have 3 small children. Trying to wrangle children into picture taking is like herding cats, and that applies to just about every family I have had a session with. These 3 did a great job. I think there were a few promised prizes for smiling, and a slip and slide in view as a reminder of what happens when it is over.
I always try to make it quick when taking pictures with children, but if you have kids, you know they have another agenda. That agenda very scarcely matches our own. The little man in the green was ready for pictures, and he had all kinds of poses in mind. Very rarely do kids want to participate, let alone add anything extra. But this little trooper was on a mission to take pictures, and that he did!

Our Tu-Tu

6.23.2012

We set out Friday to try to snap some pics at the park. Not only did I get some adorable pics in her tu-tu, but she also loved running around chasing the ducks and watching the other kids.

I love how happy this sweet girl is all the time.

Yay!

Last Minute Me

6.16.2012

I'm a procrastinator.... BIG time. I've known for 2 weeks I need to pick out paint colors & have them ready for my contractor .... Today!

So, we are headed to Waynesboro with our first Uhual load. On our way, the contractor calls trying to figure out meet-up times. He says "and don't forget those carpet samples & paint colors." At that exact moment I see a Sherwin Williams & Subway. Arthur was hungry, so I put my phone on mute & instruct him to pull in.

We pull in & I collect paint samples as he strolls through the sandwich bar creating his favorite turkey spread.

I quickly call the decorator & desperately plea with her to meet me upon arrival (maybe this will get me out of unloading) and narrow down my favorites to those few earth tones I always go back to in a comfortable disarray. Basically our new house will look the same as our old unless she can talk me out of the same Tatami Tan that covers 75% of my current home & is destined to cover at least 75% of our new residence.

Not only am I boring you with paint colors, but I'm thinking (writing) aloud my issues with being such a procrastinator. Maybe this is my way of dealing with this move... Focus on the small issues.... Healthy? Probably not.

Help?

Daddy's Twin

6.14.2012

I call Arthur, cord man. I have since we got married. He loves cords. He strings them all throughout our house, plugging things in the most inconvenient outlets. I'm always tripping over them, and constantly cursing them. Not only are they in the way, they look bad.

Well the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. This girl loves cords. Ever since she could crawl, she always scouted out the nearest occupied outlet. The other day I was working on some photos, she crawled over to my desk and sat under me. She was being very quiet (bad sign), but I kept working until ZAP! The computer went out. I looked under me and guess who had the power strip. . . HMMM!

Need help washing dishes?

I caught this little stinker in the dishwasher this morning. The sad thing is, my sister and I both were in the kitchen when she did this. She did it so fast neither of us saw it.

You caught me!

And then she starts laughing. . . Ha! Ha!

Homemade Washing Detergent

Shredded cheese? No.  .  . Shredded soap! And it has kept my house smelling so fresh for about 3 weeks now.
EASY recipe:

  • 1 4lb box Baking Soda
  • 3 bars Fels Naptha soap shredded (I used a cheese grater)
  • 1 3lb box washing soda
  • 1 4lb box of Borax
All these can be found at Wal-Mart on the detergent aisle.

You only use 2 tablespoons per load, and the website I found this on says that it cost about 18 cents per load.

I love it! So far, it has made my house smell awesome. It's gentle enough to wash everyone's clothes with (no more separate loads for baby).  It doesn't leave a strong perfume smell on the clothes. It's NOT  a huge stain fighter, so if you have any spots, I suggest giving them a pre-scrub.

It's Graduation Day!

We went to watch Aunt Holly graduate

She's in the top right corner on the end of her row!

She may be a Nana's girl just like her mommy!

Watch out AE! These 2 will spoil you. This is my Nana & Grandaddy (maternal grandparents).

Me-me, AE, Papaw, and Aunt Holly

Growing Girl

Didn't realize I used blue outfits for both pictures. O well! From the 8 months to 9 months, AE started walking. And WOW! have we changed gears! It's a hole new house now. She is into everything and is JUST like her dad. She is ALWAYS on the go. This sweet girl hates to slow down or stop. She has to be doing something all the time. Sitting down does not fall into that category, so these pictures are getting harder and harder to take each month.

She looks terrified when I'm kissing her, but she's giggling when it is dad's turn. . . typical!
